We transformed the pool’s lighting system by replacing outdated 2000W floodlights with energy-efficient LEDs.
Pre-install
Multiple on-site meetings were held to meticulously plan the installation, ensuring a smooth process. With the pool shut down for safety and a fixed timeframe in place, thorough preparation was essential to minimise any unforeseen issues.
What we did
We replaced 28 floodlights in total, including 24 up-facing floodlights, which were upgraded from 2000W to 600W, and 4 down-facing floodlights, which were upgraded from 2000W to 200W. Through precise calculations, we determined the optimal beam angles to achieve the best light projection without excessive upward angling. Each fitting was carefully adjusted to reduce glare for both swimmers and spectators.
Outcome
The installation significantly improved lighting levels, with pre-install lux levels ranging from 20-101, and post-install levels increasing to 194-1120. Despite reducing the wattage per fitting, the new lighting system dramatically increased brightness while lowering power consumption. The upgraded system allows for adjustable power settings at either 50% or 100%, leading to an annual electricity savings of $39,837. Completed just a week before Christmas, the project was delivered on time, with the team working collaboratively to achieve an outstanding result.
Lighter worked with Shearers and NZ Panels on a lighting upgrade to improve health & safety and enhance the work environment.
Implemented changes led to a 40% boost in light output in specific areas and achieved estimated annual savings of $25,000.
