Lighter worked with Mitre 10 MEGA Blenheim on a lighting design to improve the customer and staff experience and overall health & safety.
Mitre 10 is a major New Zealand chain of home improvement stores established in June 1974. It employs more than 6000 team members combined and functions as a co-operative, with over 80 stores run by 60 local owner-operators.
Pre-install
The lighting in the drive through and above the tills was poor and needed to be upgraded for health and safety reasons.
What we did
Lighter worked with Mitre 10 MEGA Blenheim to create a plan to significantly improve the lighting levels in the drive-through and over the tills. The installation had to ensure minimal operational disruption, meaning working late at night or early mornings.
Outcome
We increased the average lighting levels in the drive-through area by 207% from 336lx to 697lx and reduced energy cost by approximately 70%. We also increased the average lighting levels in the Inwards good area by 488% from 171lx to 836lx, greatly increasing the overall safety of this workspace. The checkout area increased their average light level 225% from 363lx to 817lx - greatly improving the customer and employee experience. The upgrade resulted in a 200-300% increase in lighting levels on average and short return on investment of just 2.5 years.
The previous lights at Global Bus Ventures were extremely dated and had been running for long periods without being replaced
We removed over 100 lights and still managed to increase lighting levels by 200-400% across the store.
